Richmond firms among winners at B.C. Export Awards
Accomplishments of four Richmond companies were celebrated Friday at the 30th annual B.C. Export Awards in Vancouver.
Norsat International Inc., Ironwood Clay Company, Nuheat Industries and Corvus Energy Ltd. are the local companies among 10 award-winning B.C. firms honoured at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver Hotel.
Organized by the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters B.C. and the province, the awards gala drew hundreds of business leaders and government officials.
Norsat won an Advancing Technology and Innovation Award. The Richmond firm designs electronic devices used to broadcast audio, video and other data in challenging environments.
Ironwood Clay Company netted a Consumer Products Award. The firm is the world's largest supplier of skincare products using natural oceanic clay.
Nuheat Industries won the Manufactured Products Award, recognizing the company's manufacturing of North America’s leading electric radiant floor heating system.
The New Exporter Award went to Corvus Energy Ltd. Corvus, whose Canadian corporate office is based in Richmond. Corvus is a global energy supplier for industrial and commercial environments, providing high-powered lithium ion batteries for heavy industrial operations.
Nearly 400 nominations were submitted for this year's awards. According to organizers, the B.C. export industry is the second largest contributor to the provincial economy, comprising 12,000 companies and accounting for $36 billion in exports, 400,000 jobs and $8.6 billion in wages.
