Richmond Public Library offers free income tax clinics
Richmond Public Library is offering free Income Tax Clinics to help low income people fill in their income tax returns. If you’re a single person with a maximum income of $25,000, or a couple with a maximum income of $35,000 plus $2,000 per child, then you qualify for this free service.
The clinics take place at the Brighouse (Main) Branch located at 7700 Minoru Gate in the TD Canada Trust Language Learning Centre on Saturdays March 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. (English and Mandarin). Sessions are a half-hour per person and couples must sign up for two consecutive slots. Seating is limited. To register call Brighouse Branch at 604-231-6413.
“Trained volunteers will help low income people fill in their income tax returns free of charge,” said the library’s coordinator of multilingual services, Wendy Jang. “I’m sure this will help a lot of people who have trouble doing it on their own. And of course the information will be kept confidential and will be destroyed after the tax return is filed,” added Jang. People are asked to bring all relevant documents like T4 and T5 slips, etc.
These free income tax clinics are sponsored by Richmond Public Library and the Family Christian Fellowship.
