Richmond's Sahar Biniaz wins Miss Universe Canada
Richmond's Sahar Biniaz has been crowned Miss Universe Canada following a pageant in Toronto Saturday night.
The 26-year-old was born in India and raised in Iran before moving to Canada.
She graduated with honours from Stella Adler Academy in Los Angeles and is currently working as an actress in film and television.
Biniaz will now represent Canada at the 2012 Miss Universe competition in December. She was first runner-up in Miss Universe Canada 2008.
Said Donald Trump via Twitter (@realDonaldTrump): "Sahar Biniaz is beautiful. She will make Canada proud in the international @MissUniverse competition this December."
Biniaz played the role of Hawkgirl in the Lower Mainland shot TV series, Smallville, and was featured in the role of Kali in the season finale of locally-filmed Sanctuary, according to Wikipedia.org
Also entered in the competition were two other Richmond residents.
