Christmas fund sign-up begins on Saturday

Registration for the Christmas Fund program begins on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Richmond Caring Place, 7000 Minoru Blvd.

To give locals added flexibility, Specht said an extra day of registration has been added.

“There are 10 in total, including three Saturdays. We want to make sure that everyone who needs the Christmas Fund has an opportunity to access it,” she said.

To qualify for help, registrants must be a resident of Richmond and be considered low income by Statistics Canada standards. Supporting documentation, including photo identification, CareCards for al family members, and bank statements, must be presented upon registration.

All registrants will receive a grocery vouchers so they can enjoy a special holiday meal, and children 12 and under will receive toys, books and games, donated by Richmond residents and stored in the toy room.

Teens ages 13 to 15 will receive gift certificates to a local shopping centre or store.

Registration is available on:

• Monday, Dec. 3, and Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Thursday, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m.

• Monday, Dec. 10 to Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Saturday, Dec. 1, 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

(Toy pick up will happen on the same day as completed registration. Children will not be allowed in the toy room.)
