Eating Together campaign returns
A popular Vancouver chef will lend his celebrity tonight (Wednesday) to the media launch of Touchstone Family Association’s third annual Eating Together campaign.
Eating Together—set for Feb. 24 to March 3—aims to raise awareness of the benefits of families eating together and raises funds for Touchstone’s Front Porch Program, which provides counselling and support services to families.
Joining the 6 p.m. launch at AutoWest BMW in Richmond is Vikram Vij, an award-winning chef and co-owner of Vij’s and Rangoli restaurants in Vancouver, and co-author of two best-selling Indian cookbooks.
Touchstone’s week-long Eating Together campaign is close to Vij’s heart and is one of the reasons he created Vij’s At Home, his own name brand of frozen foods, which will be showcased at the event.
Eating Together encourages families to eat together through a series of activities such as community meals, cooking classes, restaurant participation and the distribution of awareness information. Organizers point to research that shows families that regularly share meals connect more effectively, have fewer problems and stay together.
