Miss Chinese Vancouver contest calls for applications

Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 edition of the Miss Chinese Vancouver pageant.

Women between the ages of 17 and 27 are welcome to apply to become part of the contest, organized by Fairchild Television.

All contestants are trained in etiquette, posture, makeup application, image building and stage presence. Contestants are encouraged to volunteer with organizations to help those in need.

The competition serves as a training ground for some, including Carat Cheung. Cheung was first runner-up of the 2009 Miss Chinese Vancouver pageant and was recently crowned as Miss Hong Kong 2012.

Winner of Miss Chinese Vancouver 2012 will represent Vancouver in Miss Chinese International the following year.

Deadline for applications, accepted at fairchildtv.com is Sept. 21.
