The Broadway classic Fiddler on the Roof opens at Gateway Theatre Dec. 14.

The musical— by Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein—runs throughout December, and includes a New Year’s Eve show.

Set in 1905 Russia, Tevye faces a choice between allowing his daughters to marry for love or following a matchmaking custom based on more practical factors. This while the Jewish family faces eviction from their town. Actor David Adams leads a cast of 30 directed by Christopher McGregor. Tickets, $30 to $48, at gatewaytheatre.com or 604-270-1812.
