Tall Ships visit Steveston

Richmond will welcome several classically-masted vessels to the shores of Steveston June 3 to 7 as part of the city's maritime festival season.

A number of tall ships will visit Steveston throughout the summer—including the weekend of Aug. 5 to 7 for the annual Richmond Maritime Festival—but the most-anticipated ships will grace local shores in June.

Ships expected that spring week include Lady Washington, Hawaiian Chieftain, Zodiac and Adventuress.

It's expected the ships will be available for tours and possibly offer daily sails. The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain may also orchestrate a simulated gun battle off Garry Point, where they'll be docked.

Other popular summer Steveston events that coincide with visits from ships will make for a summer-long celebration for locals and visitors. The Steveston Salmon Festival, Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market, the Steveston Dragon Boat Festival, Sockeye Spin and Salmon Stomp are among other attractions worth taking in.
