Masked robbery suspect nabbed by RCMP

A 36-year-old Burnaby man is behind bars in connection with a Friday afternoon robbery at the Su-Hui-Da Currency Exchange at 5461 No. 3 Rd.

Police were called around noon to a report of an attempted robbery, in which a masked man produced a firearm and tried unsuccessfully to access the rear of the business.

Richmond Mounties happened to be in the area at the time, and saw a man flee the business who matched the description of the suspect.

Kevin Xiao Dong Luo, 36, has been charged with attempted robbery, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, and using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence.

He was scheduled to make an appearance in Richmond provincial court on Jan. 24.
