Robbers flee with stolen jewelry

Two men robbed G Stone Jewelers at Lansdowne Centre mall late Friday afternoon, and then used the carnival in the parking lot to cover their tracks.

According to Richmond Mounties, they were called shortly after 5 p.m. of a report of a robbery in the store.

Two men entered the store and demanded the clerk open the drawers and hand them jewelry.

But the clerk was too slow, and the two suspects went behind the counter and helped themselves, filling their pockets.

The pair then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

According to RCMP Cpl. Sherrdean Turley, Mounties conducted an area search, but their efforts were hampered by the presence of the carnival in the parking lot.

Turley said she didn't have a description of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
