Traveller sentenced in child porn case
An American man caught carrying child pornography while travelling through Vancouver International Airport, has been sentenced to six months in prison.
John Leroy Brown, born in 1976, was in transit through the airport on July 30 when he was referred for a secondary examination.
Border services officers found several discs of suspected child pornography in his luggage.
He was arrested and turned over to Richmond Mounties, along with the videos of suspected child exploitation.
Brown pled guilty on Tuesday, and was sentenced to six months in prison, which was requested by the Crown.
Provincial crown spokesperson Neil Mackenzie said Brown is "not Canadian" and was simply in transit when he was caught.
He has been in custody since his arrest, and will receive credit for the time he's already served in prison, meaning his remaining sentence will be just five-and-a-half months.
