Dozens of dogs dumped outside Richmond shelter
Staff at the City of Richmond's animal shelter were overwhelmed this morning when they discovered dozens of dogs dumped in the building's parking lot.
Sometime between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Friday morning, several cages holding 38 small dogs, including Yorkshire terriers and Chihuahuas, were left outside at 12071 No. 5 Rd., according to city spokesperson Ted Townsend.
Staff from the Richmond Animal Protection Society, attended to animals, and all appear in good health, said Townsend.
The Richmond RCMP attended the scene.
"The dogs will be accommodated at our shelter, checked by the vet, and then adopted out," said Townsend.
