Cops make two arrests in new dial-a-dope scheme
Two Richmond men are facing drug charges following a six month investigation by Richmond RCMP's Organized Crime Unit.
Police began their probe in February after receiving information about a new group trafficking crack and heroin. The group sold drugs using a dial-a-dope technique that operates much like a pizza delivery service, according to an Oct. 3 news release.
Police say an addict would call the drug line, place an order for heroin or crack cocaine, and wait on a roadside or in a vehicle for the delivery. Exchanges would be quick and both parties would leave in a hurry, according to Cpl. Stephanie Ashton of Richmond RCMP.
Police arrested the men Sept. 19. Emerson Mendoza-Lopez faces eight counts for trafficking, and is due back in court Oct. 10. John Weiss, who was scheduled to appear in court Thursday, faces one charge.
