Richmond RCMP are seeking witnesses who may have spotted vandals targeting the cenotaph outside Richmond City Hall.

It appears vandals spraypainted the war memorial sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday.

"It is shocking to see this kind of damage to monuments in our community. It is disgraceful to deface a monument meant to remember our fallen soldiers," said Cpl. Stephanie Ashton in a news release late Wednesday.

Police say graffiti has also been found on statues along River Road and at Britannia Shipyards in Steveston.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
