Steveston High grad eyes Super Bowl ring
A Richmond man will be taking part in this Sunday's Super Bowl.
Mark Uyeyama is the San Francisco 49ers strength and conditioning coach and hails from Richmond. He was named NFL conditioning coach of the year in 2012 by American Football Monthly.
Uyeyama grew up in Richmond and went to Steveston Secondary School.
He took part in Bobby Singh's fourth annual Down Set Hut Football Camp last summer at Minoru Park. Singh, a retired B.C. Lion, is the only Richmond product to win a Super Bowl. He was on the practice roster of the St. Louis Rams when they won in 2011.
Uyeyama could join him when his 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens in New Orleans on Sunday.
